What would the Tour de France be without its spectacular alpine mountain passes and peaks? That’s where the best of the best fight not only their rivals but also themselves to the verge of their limits. The Tour’s third highest peak, the Col du Galibier, was the perfect opportunity then, to properly try out the features of the all-new, fully electric ŠKODA ENYAQ iV, serving as the Tour director’s leading car this year.

The serpentine roads and moonscape-like surroundings were a proper hurdle race for both the car and the cyclist it accompanied, popular cycling influencer and professional athlete Cameron Jeffers.
Cameron Jeffers, a twenty-three year old Northern Irishman, was our unanimous first choice for this remarkable performance, nominated for his easy-going nature, his lively and incisive commentary and, not least, his matching stamina. As we later learned, the Col du Galibier is his favourite climb on the Tour and he's been keen to try it for some time - plus he's pretty keen on mountain scenery in general. "My relationship with the mountains is the sense of freedom they give me, the clean air and the relief from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It's an unusual paradox when we climb long alpine mountains. The harder the climb, the greater the pain, but the shorter the duration of the suffering. The sense of elation and achievement when you reach the summit is incomparable to anything else," he explained.

As Cameron noted, there is another similarity between a cyclist and an electric car besides the absence of distracting noise:

„The main comparison between cycling and the ENYAQ iV is that I get to experience a unique landscape and view of the world while reducing my carbon footprint.“
